Don’t Go Platinum Without Olaplex

platinum hair olaplex

You might think that platinum blonde hair can’t possibly be healthy hair, and before Olaplex, you were probably right. With Olaplex it’s possible to take dark or even over processed hair and transform it into healthy-looking platinum locks.

But while Olaplex is amazing, it doesn’t necessarily mean you can go platinum in just one session, and you hairdresser will still need to assess the quality of your hair and your treatment history before you get started on the road to platinum blonde.

At your consultation

Make sure that you talk to your hairdresser about your goals and make sure you understand what it’s going to take to go platinum. Your stylist might recommend that you can go platinum in just one session or they might think that making the change over a few sessions is safer. Go with their judgement.

Olaplex and your colour

I always recommend that Olaplex is used with a colour. I use Olaplex No.1 and 2 in the salon to repair your hair’s broken bonds then I’ll give you Olaplex No.3 to use at home to carry on the good work. When you are going platinum, the hair needs all the tender loving care it can get.

Olaplex No.3 rebuilds and strengthens the hair in between treatments. You can use Olaplex No.3  up to three times per week for amazing results. I talked about how to use Olaplex No.3 in one of my earlier blog posts, you can read it here.

Say no to hair damage

However many appointments you need to go platinum, using Olaplex is a must. Using Olaplex No.1 in the lightener will help offset that damage that’s usually caused by the chemicals. If you don’t use it, the chemicals in the bleach breaks the hair’s bonds causing more damage, which you really don’t want, especially if your hair is already compromised. Using Olaplex No.2 after the lightener makes sure that all of the hair’s bonds are equally strengthened and protected from the chemicals being used.

The importance of caring for your hair

I’m such an advocate of Olaplex because I know how important it is to care for your hair before, during, and after your colour. If hair is excessively damaged, you won’t get the colour result you dreamed of.
