Not Happy With Your Wig? This Might Be Why

woman wearing wig

Maybe you’ve scrawled through hundreds of wigs online and you’ve finally found one you’ve fallen in love with. You might imagine how glamorous you’ll look and feel when you finally have it on. But then it arrives, and you’re not happy. Something is either subtly (or very noticeably) not quite right. Here’s why you might not be happy with your wig…

It doesn’t fit well

This is one of the most common problems with wigs you buy online. One way to get around ending up with a wig that’s too small or too big is to get a custom wig.

It doesn’t match your hair

For your wig to look as real as possible, the colour and texture needs to match your natural hair. A custom wig can be matched perfectly to the colour, style, and texture of your own hair.

You haven’t fixed your hair properly underneath

For your wig to look realistic, you need to make sure you take care of your natural hair underneath. You can braid or twist your hair to protect it when you are wearing your wig, and of course, remember to secure your wig with a method that suits you and your lifestyle.

Your parting doesn’t look right

When you’re wearing a frontal wig, make sure your parting isn’t too wide or thin so you get a more natural-looking result.

It looks a bit too shiny

If you unbox your wig and it looks a little bit too shiny and reminds you of barbie hair, you need to fix it. While shiny hair is lovely, hair that looks too shiny screams cheap and plastic. You’ll find excessive shine is a problem with synthetic hair. My top tip to fix this is to spray your wig with some dry shampoo to make it look a little bit more matte.

It’s not well-made

Whether it hasn’t been made with good quality hair or the construction is a bit off, you can spot a poorly-made wig a mile away. This is one of most common reasons why wigs might not look realistic.

When you buy a wig, read reviews, scour the company’s social media pages and ask lots of questions. A reputable company won’t have a problem with answering anything you need to know.

If you want to spend your hard-earned cash on a high-quality, perfectly fitting, and completely personalised wig, investing in a custom wig is your best bet.
