Revive Dry, Damaged Post-Holiday Hair with Aveda Damage Remedy

aveda damage remedy intensive treatment

Have you just been on your hols, or are you planning a late summer getaway to escape the suddenly very changeable British weather? If so, you need to protect your locks from the sun so you don’t come back home with dry, damaged hair that looks and feels like straw. Here’s how:

Protect your hair every day

You protect your skin from the sun so why not your hair? Too much sun exposure can cause hair damage, dryness, and colour fade. Remember to wear a protective leave-in product or spray with UV filters to protect your locks from the sun’s harmful rays.

Give your hair some nourishment

Hair that’s dry, damaged, or just been coloured needs some extra nourishment, and Aveda’s damage remedy intensive restructuring treatment is the perfect nourishing treat. It contains quinoa protein to add strength and shine to hair. Apply it after a long day in the sun, and you’ll be able to see and feel the difference.

Don’t wash your hair too often

If you’re in a humid environment and you shampoo too often, this can cause the scalp to dry out and go flaky.

Use a hair mask to fight frizz

If you have frizz prone hair, you’ll be familiar with how big and unmanageable your hair can get in humid environments. This is because dry hair lacks moisture so it absorbs moisture from the air and it expands. If you’re prone to frizz, use a hydrating hair mask once per week to add some much needed moisture and nourishment to thirsty hair.

If your hair is dry, damaged, and frizzy, I’d advise that you take a step away from the heat styling tools. But if you really want to use them for a sleeker blow dry, apply a heat protection product then blow dry your hair with the nozzle of your hair dryer facing down. Keep tension on the hair at the roots with your brush to smooth out the hair and get a sleeker finish. Finish off your blow dry with a few drops of hair oil to smooth the hair and add shine.

Is your hair dry and frazzled from your hols?

If your hair looks and feels like straw after your hols, book in to the salon for a reviving cut, colour, or conditioning treatment and restore your locks to their former glory.
