If you’re on a mission to get healthy hair, you’ll no doubt have come across Olaplex No.3, whether you’ve seen it on social media or it’s been recommended to you by your hairdresser. But do you know what it is and why your hair needs it? No? Well that’s what we’re going to tell you…

What is Olaplex No.3?

Olaplex is a 3 step system, and all of the steps contain the same active ingredient that is free from silicone or oils, and that helps repair your hair’s broken disulphide bonds (in less scientific terms, your hair’s inner layer).  Olaplex No.1 and No.2 are often used in salons, but Olaplex No.3 is a take home treatment that will continue your hairdresser’s good work. Think of Olaplex No.3 as your insurance policy for repairing your hair from everyday damage.

How does your hair get damaged?

One of the main ways your hair gets damaged is by using heat styling tools. So every time you use your curling wand or straighteners, you’re breaking the hair’s bonds, or in other words, you’re causing damage.

Brushing or combing the hair can also cause damage, as well as tossing and turning on your cotton pillow all night. Add to this regular colouring or other chemical hair treatments and you can easily see that your hair really does get a tough time.

If that wasn’t enough, just going outside can damage your hair! The drying effects of the sun or cold weather can make the hair damaged and brittle.

Olaplex No.3 Q & A

Q: I have (virgin/curly/straight/wavy/damaged/natural/grey/) hair, can I use Olaplex?

A: Yes, Olaplex works on any hair type and colour.

Q: I have never used Olaplex No.1 or No.2 in the salon. Can I still use No.3 at home?

A: Yes. Olaplex is most effective as a 3 step system, but you can still get amazing results using Olaplex No.3 on its own.

Q: Is Olaplex No.3 a conditioning treatment?

A: No. Olaplex rebuilds the hair from within and makes it stronger. It is not a moisturising product or protein, so if your hair is dry, you still should use hydrating treatments.
